Oh, Christmas tree.

Apparently the economy is so bad (or I'm so blind) that no one is selling Christmas trees in the Central Phoenix area. I could not find a lot anywhere.
Could lot operators from years past be so concerned no one is in the market for a tree, that they've decided to pull out of the biz this year?
After all, the fir, pine, and spruce trees end up getting tossed in three weeks, along with the $50 to $70 spent on the purchase.
My search took me west of Central.
I headed north of Cactus.
I put out an APB with coworkers in the Arcadia area.
AND…I wasted 1/4 tank of gas.
Nothing.
It's tradition in my family to buy a tree on Thanksgiving weekend. I'm trying to avoid national retail chains and support a church group or some non-profit.
Nada.
It's sunday night, and I still don't have a tree. But being the resilient blogger I am, I did find some answers and I thought I'd spread the holiday cheer.
Thank GAWD for Judy Hedding with About.com. Click here to read her post on Christmas tree lots around the valley.
I can now rest easy, and begin my search again on Monday.
But before I sign off, I wanted to say thanks to my new blogging friends Jackie Dishner of The Phoenix Traveler and Nick Bastian of Rail Life for chatting me up on my blog. The two are listed on my blogs I like, and they're great references on everything Phoenix, travel, and of course, METRO.

Thanks for the recognition, Light Rail Blogger. I just added you to my Blogroll, finally, at http://www.thephoenixtraveler.com. And the name’s Dishner, not Dershner. But, hey, I’ve been called worse. ;0)
All my best,
Jackie
