Tempe+METRO=Green

The valley of the sun may not be the greenest area according to SustainLane, but it's definitely better than 32nd!
(I know, I know…we're H2O challenged)
Case in point, these steel caged recycled glass rocks (above) form a railing outside the new $24.5 million Tempe Transit Center.
This is just one feature. The building is LEED certified. Find out what that is by reading Kerry Fehr-Snyder's azcentral.com article.
Another interesting read (if you're a geek like me) is this article by Ron Sanzone, also in the Arizona Republic.
Sanzone writes about our LRV's being a global project, even though 60% of it has to be purchased from American companies. (METRO light rail is federally funded)
With the current economic situation, I bet lawmakers change "purchased" to "manufactured" after January 20th.
Just a hunch.
Anywho, you probably saw on my tweet I found a TREE LOT! Very happy about that. I'm still workin' on the decorations, maybe when I'm done I'll take a pic.
Meantime…here's one of METRO from earlier oday.
