LIGHT RAIL BLOGGER celebrates light rail with gang photo shoot

Excitement builds as METRO light rail prepares to carry the general public in one week
I can’t believe in just a matter of days, we will all witness a historic event in Phoenix with the official launch of METRO light rail.
Lynn Ducey of The Phoenix Business Journal posted a story about the grand opening events, and how METRO plans on 200,000 people showing up next Saturday to claim bragging rights as the first to ride.
Ducey also posted a link to a cool innaugural digital program with everything you need to know about the first day of service and beyond.
METRO uses the digi-gram to talk about light rail manners (and judging by other cities with mass transit, I’m sure I’ll have lots to blog about here in Phoenix), fares, and approximate trip times to name a few.
The most interesting part of the digi-gram, I found, is the introduction. METRO talks about the beginnings of light rail back in the mid-90′s until now.
I’ve said it before – light rail is just cool.
This railfan is getting really excited about the main event next week. All this bloggin’ made me wanna gather the gang and head out to our stop at Central and Osborn.
Ingrid, Bogart, and Velcro took part in an impromptu photo shoot on the way.
(OK, maybe I planned it. Either that or the camera fell into my pocket on the way out the door.)
Enjoy!
