Cruising on the light rail in style

A post by my friends over at MuniManners.com made me think of this picture I took while riding the Phoenix light-rail the other day.
Look past the pink nylon and black mesh – there’s a dog riding in that baby carriage! Paris Hilton’s Tinkerbell has nothin’ on this chihuahua!
While not every dog needs to ride in such style, your pet does need to be properly contained in a carrier while riding on the train in Phoenix. The exceptions to the rule – guide dogs.

My yorkie has been brought onto the Metro with no fuss at all… no carrier, nothing, nada. I don't think the Metro folks care at all, because the transit cop checking everyone's tickets didn't say a thing. I have to also comment that I've been to SF twice recently, and both times saw several people taking pets on leashes on the trains and buses – both on Muni and BART. I think you should just be responsible for your pet – if you can't control it and it bites someone, you get a ticket, pay their medical bills, and are held responsible. I also like how many pet friendly restaurants there are now in Phoenix – Cibo, Local Breeze, Cheuvront, etc., etc… I think it really shows how we're turning into a “cafe culture” and are finally acting like a big city…
