Car sharing competition in Downtown Phoenix

Zipcar might want to take a look in the rearview mirror. Enterprise Rent a Car wants in on the car sharing action in Downtown Phoenix. You may have seen me talk about my love-hate relationship with Zipcar’s convenience and how it’s helped make living car-free much easier (DPJ). (I try and take the lightrail or use my bike whenever possible, however some appointments take me to the outer edges of Phoenix) Normally there are two Zipcars available at ASU’s downtown campus but recently the cars haven’t been available. I went to the Enterprise satellite office inside the newly renovated Hyatt on 2nd Street and told them about my blog and how I write about living carfree in Downtown Phoenix. The manager offered to give me an hourly rate and said they would do the same for others as well – but only at this location. I love having options! For more information and rates, call Enterprise at 602-253-9322.

Fantastic, Tony. I think you just initiated a new service for downtown residents. Thanks! (and thanks for your blog)

I love the Zipcar service…but one thing I noticed about Enterprise is a really clean car since they wash the vehicles after each customer. The Zipcars are washed less frequently and it’s up to each individual member to clean up after themselves. No big deal, but something to keep in mind depending on your situation.
