METRO park-and-ride

Former Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Kurt Warner will throw the first pitch Monday afternoon (source) when the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the San Diego Padres in opening day action at Chase Field. Many baseball fans in Phoenix enjoy the convenience of the METRO light rail to get to the stadium, which is located at 4th Street and Jefferson. Parking in downtown Phoenix can cost anywhere from $5 to $20, depending on the game. Since the eight park and ride lots (more than 3,000 spaces!) along the METRO light rail are free of charge, many people take advantage of our public transit system when going to see a baseball game. Here’s a list (source: METRO) of the park and ride locations along the light rail:
- 19th Ave/Montebello – 794 spaces
- 19th Ave/Camelback – 410 spaces
- Camelback/Central – 135 spaces
- 38th Street/Washington – 189 spaces
- Dorsey Lane/Apache Boulevard – 190 spaces
- McClintock Road/Apache Boulevard – 300 spaces
- Price Freeway/Apache Boulevard – 693 spaces
- Sycamore Street/Main Street – 802 spaces
A one way fare is $1.75, so if you plan on taking multiple trips on the train and enjoying some of the restaurants in our urban core and using train to take multiple trips during, then it’s best to buy a one day pass ($3.50, info is here).
