UPDATE: Salsa Challenge in Tempe
Fresh off the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in Phoenix, why not continue those good habits of trying to save the planet? This weekend, leave your car in the garage, grab your bike and head to one of the many events taking place along the METRO light rail in Phoenix.
Astronomy Day at the Arizona Science Center (3rd St/Washington light rail station) will have your entire family enjoying hands-on activities and out-of-this-world presentations in the cutting-edge Dorrance Planetarium.
Coffee, Cookies and Crafts is a celebration of independent art & crafts in Phoenix, Arizona. The first event will be held at Bragg’s Pie Factory, on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from noon to 5pm. Use the light rail and deboard at Central Station and head westbound on Van Buren. Best to use a bike in addition to the rail. Event info is here.
The Great Bike Chase is a fun event to get people out on their bikes and to an Arizona Diamondbacks game at Chase Field. The event is part of Valley Metro‘s Valley Bike Month and starts at 9 am at Hance Park in near the Roosevelt light rail station. Orgniazers are hoping to take an aerial group picture at 10 am! Tempe Beach Park is hosting the My Nana’s Best Tasting Salsa Challenge on Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm. The event is a statewide culinary festival showcasing the prominence and popularity of our #1 condiment in the United States: salsa! More than 75 professional and amateur chefs will prepare fresh salsa on site to compete for a fabulous grand prize trip. The event benefits children affected with bleeding disorders.
