The Bikes of Denver Bike Share

I’m in love! I mentioned last week how enamored I am with Denver’s Bike Share program called Bcycle. The service is one of the largest in the country with 500 bikes at 40 stations around downtown (source: NAHJ). I spent a week in Denver for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists Convention and walked most everywhere, but every so often would use the light rail and the Bcycle to get around the heart of the city. The bike share service is conveniently located near major light rail hubs and popular landmarks. Not only is the service convenient, but the bikes are also really nice! They’re comfortable to ride, sturdy, and pimped out with everything you’ll need to run an errand, day or night.
Each bike comes equiped with a bell…
and each one is a three speed, great for zipping around downtown streets…
and adjusting the seats are a snap!
Finally, each bike has a basket and a lock in case you need to do some shopping!
I found out that Bcycle is looking to expand in other cities. Wouldn’t it be great if we had the service here in downtown Phoenix? Visitors could explore our urban core or maybe use the bikes (along with the light rail or bus) to complete that last mile of a commute? Turns out, you can vote to see who wants Bcycle more. The interactive map shows how many people have voted for their city. I think I started the voting process here in Phoenix, won’t you join me? Please share this with your friends, and hopefully we can help green the Valley of the Sun.

I added my midtown Phoenix zip code, and nothing popped up on the map as “Phoenix.” Tempe and Chandler did pop up. So it’s not like THEY’RE boycotting us!

Ha! Actually, I put in my zip code (85004) and that works. Try again, so we’ll have four votes.
